In County Court for Valley County, Judge Alan Brodbeck dismissed Roland Shafer’s case against the City of Ord Police Department. The case revolved around a chicken coop on the property of Alan and Sherri Anderson. The coop was sold to the city and remained on the Andersons’ property. Subsequently, Shafer moved the building, claiming that Sherri Anderson signed a document, permitting Shafer to move it. Based on evidence provided and witness testimony, including that of Ms. Anderson, Judge Brodbeck dismissed the case.
Also, Bryan Mentzer was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance with attempt to deliver. This carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a minimum sentence of twenty years. In addition, Mentzer was charged with possession of a deadly weapon. According to State Attorney Brandon Hanson, Mentzer has an “extensive criminal history.” He will appear in court again on March 20.
Raquel Bloom was bound over for Valley County District Court on charges of possession of a controlled substance and attempt to escape, both Class Four felonies. Also, Bloom pleaded guilty to issuing a no-account check to Anderson Pharmacy. She was fined $50 and is responsible for court costs and restitution to the pharmacy.
And Jammie Dodge waived her right to a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance with attempt to deliver. Dodge will be in court on April 11 for trial. She was remanded into the custody of the sheriff.
