The Ord Board of Education held its monthly meeting last night. Among the featured topics: members of the Ord FCCLA requested that the district offer Family and Consumer Services (FCS) courses. FCS classes focus on developing practical skills, like managing a budget, establishing a nutritious diet, and fostering interpersonal skills.
The Board approved the contracts of Grade 7 through 12 Art and Science teachers and the creation of a new Guidance Counselor/American History Teacher position. The Board also voted unanimously to approve the second reading of the Random Mandatory Drug Testing Policy.
Vinton Elementary School students and parents have begun touring Ord Elementary with the potential of attending the school next year. In addition, plans are in the works to celebrate Vinton’s years of educating area youth.
Wendy Alexander was recognized for her years at Ord High School as a Science teacher and Volleyball coach. Alexander resigned last month to take a position at Gretna.
