In county court proceedings in Valley County, Jacob Summers appeared on charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, a Class 4 felony. Summers waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will appear in court again on June 20.
A preliminary hearing was set for June 27 for Robert Gaffney. Gaffney is charged with being a habitual criminal and for violating terms of the Sex Offender Registry Act. Bond is set for $50,000. Gaffney, who is currently in prison, was remanded to the custody of the sheriff.
Also, Dusty Tompkins appeared, charged with use of a deadly weapon, strangulation, and attempted second degree assault. The court has appointed an attorney for Tompkins, who will return to court on June 27 for a preliminary hearing. Bond was set for $10,000. Tompkins was remanded to the sheriff.
Keenan Koehn pleaded No Contest to issuing a bad check (insufficient funds). Through a plea agreement, Koehn was fined $50 and ordered to pay court costs.
