Arcadia Public School Huskie Wall of Fame inducted June Holeman from the Arcadia High School Class of 1960 during the Arcadia Fall Festival, last weekend.
Holeman has competed in rodeo over 60 years and continues to compete today. She joined the Pro Rodeo circuit in the 90s. Holeman is admired by many for her endurance and willingness to keep trying. She began competing when she was four or five years old at horse shows and saddle clubs.
With barrel racing as her strong suit, she also had a specialty in raising and training horses.
Holeman has won events and championships locally, statewide and nationally. In 2005, Holeman qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. At 62 she was recognized as the oldest contestant ever and at 70 she qualified for RFD-TVs The American Rodeo.
Holeman has served as an inspiration and mentor to countless young cowgirls all across the country.
