29-year-old Casey Dodds of Cedar Rapids who was accused of five felony counts, including four child abuse charges and one count of strangulation, had the charges revised and amended to misdemeanor offenses or may have possibly dismissed completely on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
After an incident on April 24, Dodds is charged with four counts of third degree asault. In April, Dodds was accused by police of striking her four kids and choking her oldest son after taking her kids to Riverside School in the middle of the night. After returning home, she struck all the children at least once in the face, but hit her oldest child 13-20 times on various parts of his body.
Records say Dodds admitted to drinking on April 24th, and told police she “smacked” one of her sons.
The children were removed from her custody after the incident in April, but it is unknown who has custody of the kids now.
Dodds could face a max of four years in jail with no minimum.
