Ord,NE – The freshman Algebra class at Ord High School when around the town of Ord Friday morning October 13, on a treasure hunt using math. For every business that participated, they made a math problem for the students to solve. The only way to move on to their next destination was to solve the problem correctly and the business would give the students the clue to where their next stop was.
Dr. Heather Edwards, the Algebra class teacher, constructed the treasure hunt to show her students that math is used everyday in many different areas of the business world.
At 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning, one group stopped here at the KNLV studios to solve a problem, which lead them to their next destination, Ace Hardware.
Helping freshman Autumn Smith is Principal Mark Hagge. The other freshman students in the same group as Smith were Blessy Fieldgrove, Omar Molina and Braiden Lubbers.
Businesses were notified by Edwards earlier this week, asking to participate in the treasure hunt.
Multiple groups went across town to different businesses trying to get to their final destination of the treasure hunt.
