After the devastating damage left behind by Hurricane Harvey, the country has showed nothing but love and support to those affected by the natural disaster. Those showing support are even right here in rural Nebraska at elementary schools.
The 5th and 6th graders of Wheeler Central School organized a fundraiser to raise $1,000 for hurricane relief.
The students from Wheeler Central School, with only 76 students in K-12, asked every family in the school to take a Dixie Cup and fill it with their spare change all throughout the month of September.
There was one student who stuck out significantly who took it further. Sixth grader Gracie Conrad wrote letters to the businesses around the Bartlett area asking them if they would like to donate.
It wasnt much longer before donations started flowing in and adding up. They also received a donation of 111 gold, dollar coins.
All the money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Funds.
