Nebraska State Fair
The Nebraska State Fair High School Rodeo and Showcase was awarded Rodeo of the Year by the Nebraska High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) at its annual banquet in Kearney on November 4.
NHSRA point secretary, Tina Kessler, said, “The kids voted for it because it’s the State Fair. It’s fun and it’s different from any of the other rodeos they compete in. They get to enjoy the carnival and the food when they aren’t competing. It’s a great, unique event.”
The award is voted on by the top 30 high schoolers in each rodeo division that qualify for the state finals.
Bill Angell, Nebraska State Fair livestock superintendent, said The competition at the Nebraska State Fair High School Rodeo and Showcase is top notch. The best of the best from all across Nebraska come together for a couple of days of great rodeo. We have a great team that puts in a lot of hard work to make this happen and its good for them to be recognized.
The Nebraska State Fair High School Rodeo and Showcase takes place the Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. The 2018 Nebraska State Fair runs August 24 through September 3.
