Bartlett, NE — Since 2010, the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program has given more than $26 million to more than 8,000 nonprofits across rural America including food banks, emergency response organizations, schools, youth agriculture programs and many others.
Wheeler County farmer Curtis Weber has won the opportunity donate money from the Grow Communities program. Weber will direct a $2,500 donation from the program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, to the Wheeler County Sons of American Legion.
The Monsanto Fund is a philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the communities where farmers and Monsanto Company employees live and work.
The Wheeler County Sons of American Legion will use the funds to help build a Veterans Memorial in honor of all the men and women of Wheeler county who served in the US Armed Forces. The memorial will be placed on the Wheeler County Courthouse lawn in Bartlett.
“We would like to express appreciation to Curtis Weber for directing the Monsanto Funds to the Wheeler County Sons of American Legion to help fund the Veterans Memorial. This gift is a big help toward the establishment of the Veterans Memorial,” said Doug Reiter. “Wheeler County Sons of the American Legion Commander.”
The Americas Farmers Grow Communities program will provide more than $3 million in financial support to nonprofits across the US in 2017.
“Farmers are truly committed to this program because they see the difference the donation makes in their community,” said Al Mitchell, Monsanto Fund president.
