Grand Island, Neb. — On Wednesday morning, two vehicles were stolen, adding to the pile of investigations for the Grand Island Police Department (GIPD).
GIPD Captain Jim Deuring said 31 vehicles have been stolen since Dec. 1. About 80 percent of those stolen cars were running to warm up during the frigid temps.
At this time, the GIPD’s investigators on the stolen vehicles are stretched thin while trying to locate the stolen vehicles.
GI Police tweeted Wednesday morning saying: Help us, help you. We are REALLY busy with some major investigations. Trying to locate your stolen car because you left it running and unlocked isn’t helping. 2 more taken this morning.
