On Tuesday, at approximately 4:56 PM, K-9 Sergeant Welch with the Brown County Sheriffs Office was assisting the Nebraska State Patrol with a vehicle safety check on Highway 183 near mile marker 196. Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol observed numerous indicators of criminal activity during a check of a car from North Dakota.
There were two male occupants in the vehicle. Sargeant Welch deployed Dutch, his Police Service Dog. Dutch indicated to the presence of drugs within the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, Sergeant Welch located several containers of Marijuana weighing less than 1 ounce, several packages of THC wax weighing over one ounce, several marijuana cigarettes and rolling papers.
The two occupants, both from North Dakota, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance (THC), Possession of Marijuana less than One Ounce, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
