During the Valley County Health Systems Board of Trustees meeting on Jan. 17, CEO Nancy Glaubke noted the support shown at the Gala and how the Foundation is working alongside VCHS to meet their mission.
Ashley Woodward presented the financials for the sixth month, second quarter, of the fiscal year. Gross patient service revenue is at $2,513,986 or $391,106 (13.4%) under the budget. Total operating revenue was $1,699,482 or $215,620 (11.4%) under the budget in the current month. The average daily census in acute ad swing beds 4.5, and had been budgeted at 6.4 and 6.8 last year. Loss from operations in December was $46,515 compared to the budgeted gain of $75,474. Year to date gain, including non-operating revenue is $302.261.
Year to date contractual adjustments are 33.1% of gross patient revenue compared to budget of 33.0% and 34.0% a year ago. Total operating expenses are $10,641,545 year to date which is under the year to date budget, by $216,220 (2.0%). Salaries and benefits are 53.3% of operating expenses year to date compared to a budget of 53.9% and 52.6% a year ago.
VCHS is looking to pay off two bonds for 2012 Series which are $160,000 each. Finance Committee is wanting to pay those bonds off and the County Board agreed to do so.
For the purchase of the Epic 5G Ultrasound, the budget was presented to the board to the amount being over $100,000. Woodward noted that the total is less than originally budgeted and will be $109,663. The purchase of the ultrasound was moved by Morey Koll and seconded by Carl Streeter to move forward with the capital purchase.
