On average nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the US. During one year, this equates to more the 10 million women and men. Healing Hearts & Families (HHF) of Broken Bow, Nebraska believe all individuals have the right and opportunity to live in a violence free environment. Their services are confidential while being based upon the individual client needs and services are focused on the health, safety, and empowerment of those who come to them for help.
HHF is hosting a St. Patricks Day Gala on Saturday, March 17th, 2018, at the One Box Convention Center, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. The festivities will begin with cocktails at 5:30, and a catered dinner at 7:00 pm. The evening will include silent and live auctions, and entertainment will be provided by the band South Loup Sunrise.
Your help is needed because domestic abuse hotlines across the nation receive approximately 21,000 calls everyday.
The statics from nebraska are one out of every five youth who are in dating relationship will endure some form of dating violence where power and control is going on, said Valerie Harris Program manager and Therapist for HHF.
HHF serves eight counties (Blaine, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Sherman, Loup, Valley and Wheeler) covering approximately 7,000 square miles. Their vision is to eliminate domestic and sexual violence in the society. They also provides services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking along with their families free of charge. HHF now includes counseling for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and their families.
Teen dating violence is more than just being physical it is also doing emotional and verbal abuse, using sexting and texting, digital abuse, financial abuse, and sexual abuse, Said Suellen Koepke Executive Director of HHF.
In the past year Healing Hearts & families has provided services to over 100 victims, and nearly 850 calls were received from individuals in crisis. 42 nights of shelter were provided during their time of homelessness, and we have had 69 individuals attend support groups, and 366 therapy sessions.
