OMAHA, NEB. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement last week after the Trump administration announced a new package of sanctions targeting North Koreas trading partners:
- Ive long said that our nation needs to further isolate North Koreas rogue regime, which has continued to flout international rule of law, brutally suppress its people, and directly threaten the United States with nuclear weapons. For too long, Pyongyang has used illicit means to continue supporting its nuclear weapons program and other malign activities. The administrations latest package of sanctions offers an important new tool to crack down on North Koreas financing of their cruel regime. I support these efforts to put maximum pressure on Kim Jong Un and will continue to work in my capacity as chair of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee to ensure that our military can protect the United States from this nuclear threat.
