COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) A developer plans to build a $75 million condominium tower on riverfront land in Iowa with views of the skyline in Omaha, Nebraska.
Argent Group’s 15-story tower with outdoor and indoor swimming and a rooftop terrace would be the first condominium building to be built on the Council Bluffs side of the riverfront. It also marks the first new condo structure since 2011.
Moselle Residences will be accompanied by another apartment tower likely to be built afterward. The companion towers are part of the River’s Edge mixed-use development along the Missouri River that’s anticipated to promote activity between Council Bluffs and Omaha.
Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh told the Omaha World-Heraldthat the project will change the city’s image and attract residents who could increase average income, educational attainment and other factors.
“It really is something stunning that will immediately change people’s perception,” Walsh said.
Tasha Moss, an expert in downtown Omaha area residential sales, is working with the Heartland Properties of Council Bluffs to market the Argent Group’s new homes.
“The condo market bounced back a couple of years ago,” Moss said. She noted there are limited options for newer luxury condos downtown because there haven’t been any new projects for several years.
Argent officials said they’ll need to presell about half of the proposed condos to secure financing and begin construction. They’ll start preselling the Moselle luxury homes later this month at prices between $325,000 and about $1 million.
