Region 26 Emergency Management and 911 from Taylor are having a Weather Symposium in Sherman County at the Loup City Community Center on Saturday, April 7th from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The National Weather Service in Hastings will give talks and show storm films on past tornadoes and where to watch in a cloud for a tornado. Meet with the Local 4 Weather meteorologist, Travis Klanecky, from Hastings.
Numerous vendor booths will be up to visit throughout the afternoon. Booths will include preparedness in a disaster, meeting the 911 dispatchers, how to become a HAM Radio operator, registering for CodeRED warning calls, or how to become a volunteer in a disaster.
The Local Emergency Planning Committee booth will tell you what it means to shelter-in-place and what to put in a disaster kit.
There will also be a display of the severe weather poster contest 4th Grader winners from Region 26 and also a Kids Corner with fun things to do including making a 911 call or touch the Van de Graaff metal ball to demonstrate static electricity.
There will be food and door prizes all afternoon. It is free admissions for all ages.
