APRIL 3, 2018 (LINCOLN, NEB.) The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) announces the promotion of Captain Brenda Konfrst to the position of Major in command of Eastern Field Services, as well as NSP Special Operations and Capitol Security/Executive Protection.
We are tremendously proud to have Major Konfrst fill this important role, said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. She has had a decorated career, coming up through the ranks to lead Troop A, and without a doubt is ready for this new opportunity.
As a 27-year veteran of NSP, Major Konfrst has served as Commander of Troop A since 2014, when she became the first female Troop Area Commander in NSP history. Throughout her career, Konfrst has served in both Field Services and Investigative Services, as well as serving as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and as a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
Major Konfrst received the Nebraska State Patrol Manager of the Year award in 2009 and is a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Leadership in Police Organizations course (2010), Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command (2008), and Creighton University (1990).
Ive been honored to serve the Omaha area throughout my career, said Major Konfrst. I look forward to continuing that work, while also serving several other parts of the state in this new role.
The announcement comes as part of a restructuring within NSP to better divide scope of administration throughout the state. Under the new structure, NSP will divide command of the largest division, Field Services, into three areas: Eastern, Central, and Western, with each Major commanding additional operational aspects of NSP. A fourth Major will command Administrative Services.
Major Konfrst will serve as the Eastern Field Services Major. Major Kyle Otte, who has previously served as Investigative Services Major, will serve as the Western Field Services Major. Major Russ Stanczyk will remain as the Administrative Services Major. The position of Central Field Services Major will be filled at a later date.
