Saturday April 21st was the 5th shoot of the Mid Nebraska Trapshooting Conference with a showing of 398 shooters; 149 Juniors and 249 Seniors. Faith Simon came out ahead in a 3-way shoot off scoring 44/50 for the High Senior Female 16 Yard. Colby Mitchell took High Overall Male Runner-Up with 96/100. In the Coachs Shoot, our very own Jim Lech won 22/25.
The blizzard-weekend brought about a double shooter for the area teams shooting in Doniphan. Sunday, April 22nd was the 6th and final shoot of the 2018 Conference. The weather was the best it had been all season bringing out 396 shooters; 151 Juniors and 244 Seniors.
Shelby Kittle claimed the title for the High Senior Female-48/50. Lauren Collins won her shoot-off for High Handicap on the 24-25 Yard match; Lauren was also named the High Overall Female Champion. Dana Goodrich, scoring 88/100 for the day secured the title of High Overall Female Runner-Up; prevailing in the 4-way tie shoot-off.
The day rounded out with the awards for All Conference Finals where 3 teams are set based on the shooters weekly scores. Each team has a Captain which held the high score of the team and is followed by 4 seats. The Karp & Krow Junior females were recognized in Second Team: Josie Lange 187/250 and Mattie Ryker 185/250; and Third Team Captain, Baylie Bower -149/250 and Amaya Kremke-148/250.
Colby Mitchell was named Senior Males for Second Team 448/500. Third Team held Logan Smith 439/500, Seth Clamp 438/500 and Sam Lech 438/500.
Dana Goodrich was named to the Senior Female First Team 430/500; Second Team held Captain, Shelby Kittle-420/500, Faith Simon-415/500 and Hailey Zulkoski-415/500; Hannah Simon was named to Third Team-396/500.
The Conference offers 4 – $500 scholarships to graduating seniors every year. This year Shelby Kittle and Gus Dunbar were 2 of the recipients.
Several Karp & Krow shooters will be participating in the State 4H Clay Shooting Championship scheduled for April 29th at the Heartland Shooting Park near Grand Island. This competition covers trap, skeet and sporting clays and sets the stage for selecting the representative Nebraska 4H shooters for the National Competition. The State Trap Shoot will be held May 3rd-5th at the Doniphan Range.
