ORD, NE — It was a great day for Ord High School, said Principal Mark Hagge following an assembly with legendary former Husker Coach Tom Osborne.
The former Husker Coach, former University of Nebraska Athletic Director and Nebraska Politician spoke to the students about character, courage and integrity all the while speaking to all types of students; not just athletes.
“He talked about courage, both physical courage and moral courage, to do the right thing,” says Hagge, “Those are things that stand the test of time. Those are the things that endure popularity, fame, money, fortune…”
Originally, Ord Public Schools wanted to bring Osborne to Ord to speak for the Big Give to Valley County, but it worked out for Thursday morning after a quick call from Hagge to Osborne.
Hagge is a former line backer under Coach Osborne from the year 1986 to 1990 and still has a friendship with Osborne.
It was in OHS’ hopes the students would take away from this assembly and learn from Osborne’s wise words, and leave a special mark on each individual.
Following the assembly students were able to get autographs and pictures with Osborne.
