MAY 25, 2018 (GRAND ISLAND, NEB.) As citizens attempt to break a world record along the Cedar River this weekend, troopers and dispatchers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) will be working overtime in an effort to prevent drunk-driving related crashes.
A special enforcement operation will take place in Greeley County on Sunday, May 27th. Large crowds are expected to attend an event being described as a World Record River Party.
The enforcement will include saturation patrols and a DUI checkpoint during the event. The event is expected to include a large number of people tanking on the Cedar River and attending a concert following the tanking event.
The operation is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $2,200 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
