LINCOLN, Neb. July 12, 2018 – Based on July 1 conditions, Nebraska’s winter wheat
production is forecast at 48.0 million bushels, up 2 percent from last year, according to the
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Average yield is forecast at 48 bushels per acre,
up 2 bushels from 2017. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 1.00 million acres, down
2 percent from a year ago.
Oat production is forecast at 2.57 million bushels, up 50 percent from last year. Average yield is
forecast at 57 bushels per acre, up 8 bushels from 2017. Area to be harvested for grain is
estimated at 45,000 acres, up 29 percent from a year ago.
