LINCOLN Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Constitution Day. Constitution Day is observed today, September 17, 2018.
Thanks to the vision and foresight of our Founders, the U.S. Constitution has protected our freedoms for 231 years. It endures because the principles which it contains are timeless and unchanging. On Constitution Day, I urge Nebraskans to reflect on the God-given freedoms that we as Americans enjoy, which are recognized in and protected by this sacred document. Lets never forget the words of President Lincoln in 1856, Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.
