Kearney, NE – The Nebraska River Basin Alliance (NRBA), the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) and the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) announced on Saturday they will sign the purchase agreement for the eventual transfer of assets and water rights associated with the Spencer Hydro-Electric Facility on the Niobrara River.
This will take place at the Younes Conference Center (416 W Talmadge Rd.) on Monday, September at 4:30 p.m.
The three entities explains that, In 2015, they mentioned above signed a memorandum of understanding to transfer assets and water rights associated with the Spencer Hydro-Electric Facility from NPPD to the NRBA and NGPC. Doing so will allow NRBA and NGPC to protect all uses of the river, including recreation, agriculture and wildlife. Mondays signing is an important step in the transfer of water rights and other assets as the entities work together to protect the river, its flows, and the people, industries, fish and wildlife that use it.
