ORD, Neb. Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted approximately 300 women and raised a record $2,819 for the VCHS Auxiliary and Ord Senior Center at its annual womens health event on Oct. 2. The free evening event Celebrate Being a Woman was held at the Trotter Event Center in Ord and featured vendors, raffles, dinner and a healthcare provider Q&A panel presentation.
The annual VCHS Celebrate Being a Woman event is an evening dedicated to womens health and wellness, VCHS Public Relations and Marketing Manager Marcy Shafer said. This years event, exceeded expectations, all thanks to the volunteers, vendors and attendees. We thank everyone for their generosity and for sharing a fun evening with us.
The two benefitting organizations the VCHS Auxiliary and Ord Senior Center will each be presented a check for $1,409.50 at their next group meetings to help advance their causes local healthcare and senior involvement. VCHS departments and employees donated raffle baskets, and the money was raised through raffle basket ticket purchases.
The events healthcare provider Q&A panel presentation included VCHSs Jennifer Bengston, MD, Hilary Miller, MD, and Hallie Yantzie, APRN-NP; General Surgeon Christopher Seip, MD and Radiologist Erin Bravo, MD, who answered questions on topics including skin care, breast health and cancer.
More than two dozen vendors also participated in the event, ranging from local health and wellness professionals to financial institutions to in-home businesses.
Roys Place/Elyria Gardens catered French-inspired hors deouvres, and the VCHS Dietary Department prepared decadent chocolate cupcakes for dessert.
