Darrell Arthur White was born March 7, 1939, in Garfield County, Nebraska, to Clarence and Leah (Owen) White. He passed on November 3, 2018, in Kearney, Nebraska. He grew up in Garfield County and attended high school at Burwell. After high school, he attended college in Lincoln and Omaha, earning a communications license. He married Fay Loueen DeGroff on October 1, 1960. They lived in Omaha for two years where he worked for OPPD. Their first son, Warren Ray, was born on September 6, 1961. They moved to Brewster in 1962 to help on the DeGroff family ranch. Their second son, Wayne Arthur, was born on August 6, 1963. In 1968, they moved back to Burwell to Clarence and Leah’s farm where Darrell grew up. They purchased the farm and raised their family there. Twins, Weylon Gene and Wanda Lea, were born on March 17, 1972. Darrell farmed and raised cattle with the help of his wife and children. He enjoyed the hard work, feeding cattle, planting and picking corn, mowing and raking hay. He also did electrical work on the side, repairing televisions and wiring houses and buildings for many friends and neighbors. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids participate in their sports and activities. His hobbies included playing cards, fishing and boating, going to auctions, working on his tractors, playing the keyboard, bowling, and flying his Cessna 150. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Leah, his brother Cecil, and a granddaughter Katie Kate. He is survived by his wife, Fay, of Burwell; Brother Russell White of Loveland, Colorado; his sons Warren and Karen White of Hereford, Texas; Wayne and Lori White of Burwell; Weylon White of Bennington; daughter Wanda and Todd Eberle of Broken Bow, Nebraska; grandchildren Brandi and Brent Hodges of Burwell; Kane and Leah Wilt of Wylie, Texas; Cory and Julie Marsh of Hereford, Texas; Cody and Ashley Marsh of Amarillo, Texas; Colby and Kristin Marsh of Hereford, Texas; Zachary Tebbetts of Wichita, Kansas; Lacey White of Lincoln; Cassius McClintic of Omaha; Kally and Josh Cloeter; Will McClintic; McKenna McClintic all of Burwell; Taylor and Rory Curtis of Omaha; Tommy and Tanner White of Bennington; Payton Lowe of Gas City, Indiana; Mitch and Mallory Eberle of Raleigh, North Carolina; Ciara Eberle of Kadoka, South Dakota; Chesany and Spencer Goodman, Jory and Jessy Lowe of Broken Bow, Nebraska; and 13 great–grandchildren. Darrell said at his Brother Cecil’s funeral that he wanted these three things in his life: to get his pilot’s license, to marry a pretty girl and have a family, and to make lots of money. He said two out of three ain’t bad. Darrell’s legacy that he would be most proud of; is his four successful children and the love and admiration of them and their families.
