Mildred Mae Maly, 89, of Ord passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Stefanie Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ord First United Methodist Church or the Grace Foundation. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Mae was born January 6, 1929, to Guy and Gladys (Fox) Cone in Custer County near Westerville, Nebraska. She spent her early years in Western Nebraska and South Dakota before moving to Garfield County near Burwell where she graduated from Burwell High School in 1946.
On September 15, 1946, Mildred was united in marriage to Frank Maly at the Ord First United Methodist Church. The couple made their first home on Frank’s grandparent’s farm. In 1949, they moved to their present farm eight miles northeast of Ord in the Springdale Township of Valley County. Frank passed away on July 20, 2009. Mildred continued to live on the farm until she became a resident of the Valley View Senior Village in September of 2018.
She was a member of the Ord First United Methodist Church, UMW, Springdale Kensington Extension Club and the Valley County Farm Bureau, serving on the women’s committee.
Mildred enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking bread and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Arnold Vialpando of Wood River; a son, Dennis Maly of rural Ord; two grandchildren, Heather and Travis Miller of Gothenburg and Jay Vialpando of Wood River; five great-grandchildren, Tyson, Jayden, and Dakota Miller and Cameron and Jocelyn Vialpando; one great-grandchild, Frankie Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; a grandson, Joe Vialpando; a granddaughter, Abbie Vialpando; three brothers, Donald, Floyd and Richard Cone; and three sisters, Alice White, Carole Harris and Doris Fleetwood.
