November 4, 2018 (Linoln, Neb.) – The Nebraska department of Transportation (NDOT) wants your ideas on safe driving advice to travelers in “Friday Safety Messages” via electronic message boards along Nebraska’s Interstate and other major highways.
NDOT is taking submissions now through December 14. A new safety message is posted every Friday for 24 hours from 12:00 AM Friday to 12:00 AM Saturday on the overhead Dynamic Message Signs across the state along I-80 and I-29.
NDOT and the Nebraska State Patrol ask that submissions be three lines of text with a maximum 18 character per line (spaces count) and that they are submitted on NDOT’s website here.
Many of the short safety snippets have tied in with holidays or special events, current events, back-to-school or sports.
Past couple of years’ messages:
- “You’re Not a Pumpkin, Don’t Drive Smashed”
- “Drive Exemplary, It’s Elementary”
- “Drive Like it’s the 80’s. Hair Up. Phone Down.”
- “Fireworks Should Be The Only Thing Getting Lit”
Don’t Delay. Send your Friday Safety Messages today, and remember: “DON’T FUMBLE YOUR LIFE AWAY, BUCKLE UP!”
