ORD, NEB. – The past week has taken it’s toll on student attendance in the region. Multiple schools shut down due to low attendance from illness and other activities.
Dr. Heather Nebesniak, Superintendent of Ord Public Schools (OPS) estimated 20% of the student body absent due to illness or other activities.
Influenza A has been plowing it’s way through communities these last few weeks as well.
“Numbers (of absence) have been going down every day this week,” says Dr. Nebesniak. She also mentions the school has been deep cleaning the buildings making sure all surfaces are disinfected including lockers. They have also been sure to clean and disinfect the air in the evening while students are gone to help rid of any further absence.
