MAY 28, 2019 (GRAND ISLAND, NEB.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol conducted a special enforcement operation focused on removing drunk drivers from the road in conjunction with a concert event in Spalding.
During the effort, troopers arrested 2 people for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. In addition to arrests for DUI, troopers also issued citations for Speeding (6), Open Container (2), Seat Belt violation (1), and 2 arrests were made on outstanding arrest warrants.
Thanks to travel alternatives organized by the event planners, traffic on surrounding highways was light during the enforcement period, which included Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26.
Troopers worked with local law enforcement to perform saturation patrols and DUI checkpoints as part of the effort. This enforcement operation was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $2,200 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
