The Nance County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that their office along with Nebraska Game and Parks located a mountain lion deceased.
Nance County deputies, the sheriff and Game and Parks found the mountain lion around 12:30 p.m. in a wooded area east of Highway 14, just north of the Loup River bridge.
The Sheriff’s Office deployed their drone, equipped with a thermal camera and located a large heat source through the trees. The drone pilot was able to guide a deputy on foot directly to the heat source which was a male mountain lion.
The animal had been dead for several hours and appears to have succumbed to injuries from the vehicle collision.
The crash happened around 8:30 Tuesday night on Highway 14, just south of Fullerton, north of the Loup River bridge.
The animal has since been removed from the scene.
