The Loup County Fire Department responded to a building explosion in Taylor Tuesday afternoon. A press release from the Nebraska State Fire Marshal Agency said the explosion took place at 303 Murry Street, better known to locals as the former Taylor Grocery Store, where crews responded just before 4 p.m.
Upon arrival, officials said firefighters determined the two-story building had exploded and collapsed.
The building was used for residential living, but was vacant at the time of the explosion. Authorities said no injuries or deaths have been reported.
Other buildings in the area sustained damages as a result including the Taylor Post Office and the Lazy D Restaurant and Lounge. The extent of those damages are still being assessed.
The Post Office will now be operating from Burwell.
Responding agencies included Loup County Rural Fire Department, Loup County Sheriff, Garfield County Sheriff, Loup County Emergency Management, Region 26 Emergency Management and the Nebraska State Fire Marshal.
