While Priscilla was still a toddler, she, with her parents, moved to Glenn, California. At the age of four she started going to school in Orland, California for special needs children. She attended several different schools between the ages of 4 and 21. She loved every minute of it. At the age of 21 there was a special graduation for her at Willows high school where she received a diploma to commemorate the completion of her academic schooling.
When Priscilla was 19, upon her confession of “I love God” and her willingness to give up her radio, jewelry, guitar, and pants, she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Minister Dick Loewen. Priscilla brought everyone joy with her smiles, hugs, cards, and gifts. She loved to sing and participated in youth activities with her sister Evangela. She would get up in front of church and sing with the youth every chance she got. She lived in the moment and every day was a good day.
After her graduation she started going to the Glenn County Workshop for special needs adults. Here she learned practical skills and especially loved being in the kitchen helping the cook. She loved to read and always carried a book with her wherever she went. Priscilla loved her family and took special joy in holding the new nieces and nephews that came into the family.
In 1997, Priscilla moved with Mom and Dad to Montezuma, Kansas. She volunteered at Bethel Home, vacuuming the floors and cleaning the tables after lunch. After Dad moved into Bethel Home she would always go into his room and give him a hug before she went home in the afternoon.
In 2005, Priscilla moved into an apartment with her youngest sister Rosetta. She went to the workshop for special needs adults in Dodge City, Kansas. In 2007, she moved to Scotia, Nebraska to be with Mom again. Here, Darlene Hill taught her how to sew and she learned to sew quilt blocks together. She spent many happy hours at the sewing machine making quilt tops for lap blankets and baby blankets. She loved to buy flowers every time she went to town, especially the gorgeous orchids that were always displayed in the front of the store.
Priscilla was always busy sewing, crocheting, making gifts, sending cards, or reading. That all changed in 2016, when she fell and hit her head causing her brain to start bleeding. She had surgery to drain the blood and then went to a nursing home to recover. She never fully recovered, however, so she stayed at Greeley Care Home where she spent the last 5 years of her life. Even then, she brought the nurses joy and had a smile for everyone.
Survivors include her ever loving mother, Pauline Jantzen, Scotia, Nebraska; three brothers, Rodney and Kathie Jantzen of Artois, California, Daniel and Cheryl Jantzen of Hamilton City, California and Johnny Jantzen of Red Bluff, California; four sisters, Virginia Koehn of Scotia, Nebraska, Rachael and Dennis Unruh of Glenn, California, Evangela and Sherwin Dueck of Whitemouth, Manitoba and Rosetta Jantzen of Scotia, Nebraska; twenty-one nieces and nephews; 30 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces.
