A judge ordered a competency evaluation for a man who vandalized multiple Grand Island business in December. The evaluation is for Raul Ramirez of Kearney. He is charged in two cases with burglary, second degree arson, three counts of criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing. He has pled not guilty to all of those charges. The case stems from a string of incidents in December of 2021 where Ramirez allegedly crashed his vehicle into a gate at Case New Holland on West Stolley Park Road. He then crossed the road to Roe Buick and caused damaged to four vehicles there. Police say Ramirez then went to Tom Dinsdale Automotive on South Webb Road, and allegedly damaged two more vehicles before he broke into the dealership and started a fire on the balcony. The fire cause $5,000 to the building with an additional $10,000 when the sprinkler system was activated. The hearing for his evaluation will be in Hall County Court at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25th.
