Favion Lara, 17-years-old, of Grand Island, faces three counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, two counts of attempted assault on a police officer, unlawful discharge of a firearm from or near a vehicle, and obstructing a police officer. Omar Cervantes,17 years-old, of Alda, is charged with three counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, two counts of attempted assault on a police officer, unlawful discharge of a firearm from or near a vehicle and two counts of accessory to a felony. Court records say that while Grand Island Police officers where serving a search warrant for a home in the 500 block of West Louise Street a maroon Lincoln LS that was being driven by Cervantes stopped in the street near the officers. The affidavit then says Lara step out of the vehicle and fired two shots at the officers in what seems like an attempt to prevent them from searching the home. Lara then got back into the vehicle and Cervantes drove off. Police arrested the two on Saturday and they were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday
