The Beatrice Police Department announce the arrest of a student from Southeast Community College Campus after they found a rifle in his vehicle. Authorities were called to the campus at around 12:40 p.m. Friday morning. When they arrived at the scene they observed a black-colored rifle that was fully visible in the back seat of a Ford Mustang not in a case or on a gun rack. After officers met with campus security they were able to locate the owner of the vehicle and he unlocked the car for them and they seized the rifle. The rifle was a Marlin 22-caliber gun. It was not loaded and there was no ammunition found in the vehicle. The student, 21-year-old Zachary Burcham, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds.
