27-year-old Wesley Cassidy, of Wallace, was sentenced in Federal Court in Lincoln for armed bank robbery on Friday, according to acting U.S. Attorney Steven Russell. Cassidy received 50 months in prison and will also serve a term of five-years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment fee as well. According to the court documents, Cassidy used a bladed knife to demand money from a teller at the Flatwater Bank in Gothenburg on Aug. 19, 2021. After receiving money from two of the tellers drawers Cassidy fled the bank on foot. He soon take in to custody by authorities and then later he admitted to robbing the bank in an interview.
