Suspended NFAT General Manager Jeffrey Stewart is still wanted by Madison County Authorities after they searched his home on Monday. Stewart is accused of embezzling $740,000 from North Fork Area Transit which he had access through by way of a company credit card. He used the embezzled money to purchase flight tickets, make casino purchases, pay for meals from local restaurants, purchase home goods and more items all for personal use. He was found out when a NFAT board member review purchases that Stewart had made using that credit card. Because of the embezzling and missing funds NFAT was unable to make payroll and had to ask for emergency funds from the Norfolk City Council who held an emergency meeting and approved the emergency funds that totaled $88,155.59 to cover the payroll. Stewart who is a native of Texas, had been named the North Fork Area Transit GM in February of this year and was suspended by the NFAT Board on Friday at the City Council Meeting.
