Incoming Governor Jim Pillen announced the deal with Nebraska State Troopers union on Wednesday that will see their pay increase by 22% under a new contract. The deal will go into effect next July and it increase the new hire base pay by $5.43 an hour to make it an even $30 per hour. Troopers will also receive extra pay for specialty assignments as well. Also included in the new contract is another 5% pay raise in 2024. Col. John Bolduc said that this new contract will help with the recruitment of the next generation of state troopers in Nebraska. The pay that State Troopers receive in Nebraska has fallen behind the pay of other Law Enforcement Agencies in the State in recent years. Pillen says that this agreement reflects his commitment to improving law enforcement across the state.
