A homicide investigation is underway in Lincoln after authorities responded to a call of someone hearing gunshots followed by a car crash on Friday morning. The call came in around 12:20 a.m. to the Lincoln Police Department and officers were dispatched to S. 20th and Washington St. When officers arrived at the scene they found a vehicle that had been involved in an accident and the driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old male, suffering from gunshot wounds. With the assistance of Lincoln Fire & Rescue personnel life saving measure were taken to save the man but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators then got underway processing the scene for evidence. When a report was released by LPD they did not have any information on the crime but they do believe that the crime did not suggest an ongoing threat to the publics’ safety at that time. Authorities are still in the early stages of the investigation.
