This bill will cap the costs of insulin at $100 a month for individuals with private insurance said State Senator Tom Briese, of Albion, who introduced the bill on Friday. Other states like Connecticut, Colorado, and Illinois have similar measures in place that have caps ranging from $100 a month to even lower caps of $25 a month. Medicare recipients this month will see a cap of $35 per month on their costs, this is part of the Inflation Reduction Act. If it were to pass Briese’s bill would take effect on the first day of 2024. His bill also leaves room to reduce the cap to an amount less than $100 if needed.
