Registrations for the Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day are almost full and are being taken on a first-come basis. If you are interested in having your child attend, don’t delay in sending in your registration form. Registration forms are available at area schools, local UNL Extension Offices, Ord NRCS office, and Loup Basin Public Health Dept. in Burwell. Please remember to send registrations to the address on the form and do not return them to the school.
The annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is being planned for Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Valley County Fairgrounds. Registration is free until May 10th, courtesy of Cargill. After May 10th, a $10 late fee will be charged until registration is full. Many generous donations have been received that will allow each participant to receive a free safety day T-shirt, and a goodie bag full of fun and useful safety and health items for themselves and their families to use this summer. GreenAmerica Biofuels of Ord will provide lunch for all participants.
Children attending this year will participate in interactive sessions that reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents’ safety rules and sharing safety tips with their family and friends. Hands-on demonstrations reveal the hidden hazards of rural surroundings and teach participants how to avoid injury and what to do should an accident occur. Demonstrations this year will focus on: Fire Safety, Region 26 & Emergency Calls, Tractor Safety, General Farm & Livestock Safety, Basic First Aid, Smoke House Simulator, School Safety & Peer Pressure.
