ORD, Neb. – Valley County Sheriff Casey advanced to trial court in Valley County after he waived a preliminary hearing by entering a written plea of not guilty and waiving his arraignment in district court. The trial date is yet to be scheduled, but he’s scheduled for a pretrial hearing on March 20, 2024.
Court documents show accuse Hurlburt of reporting a personal car accident having happened in October 2022, but the actual date of the crash was March 2022. The charge alleges that Hurlburt was attempting to have repairs done to the vehicle using a policy taken out in April 2022, a month after the accident, which is a Class IV felony. If convicted, Hurlburt could receive up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
