Recently, Nebraska State Patrol investigators found that two Grand Island businesses did not pass alcohol compliance checks. On February 29, checks were conducted at 10 establishments in Hall County. Among these, two businesses sold alcohol to a minor, resulting in an 80 percent compliance rate. One of these businesses failed to verify the minor’s ID.
The businesses failing the compliance checks were identified as Y & N Liquor and Pump & Pantry 52 in Grand Island.
Further checks were carried out in Red Willow County on March 10, covering a total of 11 businesses. None of these businesses sold alcohol to a minor, achieving a 100 percent compliance rate. Each establishment properly checked the minor’s ID.
Nebraska State Patrol specified that the businesses included convenience stores, grocery stores, hotels, restaurants, liquor stores, and bars.
Businesses found selling alcohol to minors are reported to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks responsible for such sales are cited for procuring alcohol for minors.
