In North Platte, Nebraska, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was notified Sunday afternoon of a car colliding with a train at O’Fallons Crossing, situated a mile east of Sutherland.
Lincoln County Sheriff Jerome Kramer explained that a halted eastbound train led a 16-year-old driver to overlook an approaching westbound train. While two vehicles ahead of the teenager safely crossed the tracks, the young driver failed to check for the westbound train.
The injured adolescent was taken to Great Plains Health in North Platte, where doctors diagnosed them with a concussion but no other injuries. The teenager’s vehicle suffered significant damage. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol involvement in the incident.
