GRAND ISLAND — Individuals loitering in the wash bay of a Grand Island car wash would result in a drug arrest during the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 3.
At 4:18 a.m., officers with the Grand Island Police Department responded to Bubbles Car Wash on West 2nd St. for the report of two individuals loitering.
Arriving on scene, officers observed a vehicle in one of the wash bays. They contacted Gregory Dowdy in the passenger’s seat as the sole occupant.
Upon contacting Dowdy, officers say he turned away from them and appeared to manipulate items on his lap.
A clear container with a white crystalline substance, which the officers recognized as methamphetamine, was observed in plain view on the driver’s seat, clearly visible from where Dowdy was sitting.
A further search of the vehicle located 2.8 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Officers would place Dowdy under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana – one ounce or less and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He would be booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
