A 17-year-old student is being referred to the Hall County Attorney’s Office following an incident at Grand Island Senior High School involving a false threat. According to the Grand Island Police Department, the situation unfolded just after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday when school administrators received reports from concerned parents about a potential lockdown. Some parents reportedly attempted to pick up their children due to the perceived threat.
Police revealed that a staff member from the school was shown a screenshot of the student’s Snapchat account, where she claimed to be hiding during an active lockdown. However, Grand Island Public Schools confirmed that there was no real threat and that no emergency protocols were activated.
The student received disciplinary action according to school policies and was released to her parents.
