The St. Paul Police Department arrested two women on Sunday for allegedly trying to use counterfeit money during the annual Junk Jaunt event.
Police were called to the event after a vigilant attendee quickly recognized the counterfeit bills and reported it to authorities. A witness then spotted the suspects’ vehicle at a nearby Junk Jaunt location and alerted 911, leading officers to the two women.
As part of the investigation, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office deployed its new K9 unit, which positively indicated the presence of illegal substances in the suspects’ vehicle. Officers subsequently discovered suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, along with $1,100 in counterfeit $100 bills.
