PALMER — A fatal single-vehicle crash near Palmer is under investigation by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18, approximately four miles southwest of town.
Authorities say the vehicle was traveling eastbound on a rural road when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the Howard County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety has identified the victim as 28-year-old Richard Clouse II, a resident of Palmer.
According to Sheriff Mike Hoff, speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
