A late-night traffic stop in northeast Nebraska took an unusual turn early Sunday when deputies discovered a nude driver hauling a stolen motorcycle and suspected drugs.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 1:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 81 just north of Norfolk. A deputy on patrol spotted a pickup truck towing a trailer without working lights. When the deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver continued north before stopping on Northeast Industrial Highway.
The truck, a Chevrolet 2500 with Iowa plates, was carrying two motorcycles on a flatbed trailer. When the deputy approached, he found the 47-year-old Iowa man completely nude, holding a pair of pants over himself. The man reportedly told the deputy he was “hot and allergic to his own sweat.”
The deputy determined the man’s driver’s license was expired and suspended due to an unpaid citation. During the stop, the driver’s alertness began to fade, prompting the deputy to request medical assistance. The man later regained composure and was arrested on suspicion of driving under suspension.
Further investigation revealed one of the motorcycles, a Honda Gold Wing, had been reported stolen. The other, a Kawasaki, belonged to another Iowa resident and was not stolen. Deputies also allege the man was in possession of a controlled substance believed to be THC concentrate.
The driver was booked into the Madison County Jail on multiple charges.
