GRAND ISLAND — A 44-year-old man is behind bars after police say he strangled a young boy late Sunday night.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were called to Resident Suites at 2114 West Second Street around 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports that Michael Prunty had assaulted a 12-year-old boy.
Division Chief Dean Elliott said Prunty became angry when the child did not listen or go to bed as instructed. The situation escalated, and Prunty allegedly strangled the boy. Police reported that the child had visible hand marks on his neck but was otherwise unharmed.
